Nozzles and hotend parts
Which Hotend Fits Your Bambu Lab Printer
An X1C hotend, a P1 Series hotend, and an A1 Series hotend are three different products in Bambu Lab's own store, each one listed for its own printers only. This page uses Bambu's published compatibility table to show exactly which hotend or nozzle product is listed for which printer, plus the one aftermarket part documented to cross the X1C and P1 series line.
The short answer
No. On Bambu Lab's published compatibility table, a hotend or nozzle product is listed for one printer series at a time, and both swaps in your question cross that line. The X1C Hotend is listed for the X1C only. The P1 Series Hotend is listed for the P1P and P1S only. The A1 Series Hotend is listed for the A1 mini, A1, and A2L only. Bambu sells these as three separate items in its own store, even though an X1C and a P1S share almost every other part on the machine. Nothing in Bambu's published material says a spare X1C part can go into a P1S, or that an A1 nozzle can go into a P1P.
What Bambu's compatibility table lists
Bambu publishes one reference for this: a table titled "Nozzle-Printer Compatibility" on its wiki's nozzle guide. It covers every hotend and nozzle product Bambu currently sells, matched to the printers each one is listed for.
| Hotend or nozzle product | Printers it's listed for |
|---|---|
| TPU Hotend | H2D and H2D Pro (right hotend only), 0.4 mm / 0.6 mm |
| H2 Series/P2S Hotend | H2D, H2S, H2C, P2S, X2D |
| H2C Induction Hotend | H2C only |
| X1C Hotend | X1C only |
| P1 Series Hotend | P1P, P1S |
| A1 Series Hotend | A1 mini, A1, A2L |
| H2 Series/P2S High Flow Hotend | H2D, H2S, H2C, P2S, X2D |
| X1C Complete Hotend Assembly | X1C only |
| P1 Series Complete Hotend Assembly | P1P, P1S |
| Tungsten Carbide Nozzle | H2D, H2S, H2C, P2S, X2D |
| High Flow Tungsten Carbide Nozzle | H2D, H2S, H2C, P2S, X2D |
| E3D High Flow ObXidian Hotend | X1C, P1P, P1S |
The table carries one stated exception. Bambu says the A2L can physically accept the quick-release nozzle from any printer in its current lineup, but that performance improvements "cannot be guaranteed" with a nozzle built for another series, and it recommends the A-series nozzle for full performance on the A2L. Read plainly: a non-A-series nozzle will go in, but Bambu is not committing to print quality with it, and points A2L owners back to the A-series part for anything but a stopgap.
The same table, organized by printer
If it is easier to look up your printer instead of a part name, here is the same information regrouped.
| Your printer | Bambu-listed hotend/nozzle products |
|---|---|
| X1C | X1C Hotend, or the X1C Complete Hotend Assembly |
| P1P or P1S | P1 Series Hotend, or the P1 Series Complete Hotend Assembly (also: the third-party E3D High Flow ObXidian Hotend, below) |
| A1, A1 mini, or A2L | A1 Series Hotend (A2L: any Bambu quick-release nozzle physically fits, but Bambu recommends A-series nozzles for full performance) |
| H2D or H2D Pro | H2 Series/P2S Hotend, H2 Series/P2S High Flow Hotend, Tungsten Carbide Nozzle, High Flow Tungsten Carbide Nozzle, or (right hotend only) the TPU Hotend |
| H2S, H2C, P2S, or X2D | H2 Series/P2S Hotend, H2 Series/P2S High Flow Hotend, Tungsten Carbide Nozzle, or High Flow Tungsten Carbide Nozzle (H2C also takes the H2C Induction Hotend) |
Why the X1C and P1 parts don't cross over, and the one part that does
Bambu's own maintenance guide explains that its hotend is built as a single unit, heatsink, throat, heater block, and nozzle together, with no separate brass tip that unscrews the way it might on some other printers. Bambu's wiki also treats "nozzle" and "hotend" as two names for the same part. That is why moving "the hotend or the nozzle" is really one question on a Bambu printer, not two.
The X1C and P1 Series hotends mount the same way: two screws into the heatsink, plus three separate plugs for the ceramic heater, thermistor, and fan. Bambu's own store pages even list identical headline specs for both parts, a 320°C maximum printing temperature and a 47.3 mm length. Same numbers, same mounting style, and still two separate store listings, "Bambu Hotend - X1C" and "Bambu Hotend - P1 Series," with nothing in Bambu's material stating that one substitutes for the other. Matching specs are not the same as stated compatibility, and the compatibility table is the one Bambu commits to in writing.
If you want one hotend documented to run on more than one of these printers, the part with that written compatibility is not from Bambu. E3D's High Flow ObXidian hotend is listed by E3D itself as fitting the X1, X1 Carbon, P1S, and P1P, in 0.40 mm and 0.60 mm sizes, and it is the one third-party part Bambu's own compatibility table also names. It installs as a metal-only kit that reuses your printer's existing heater and thermistor, or as a version with those parts already included. E3D's page also lists the X1E as compatible, temperature limited to 300°C — the same maximum printing temperature E3D's FAQ states for this hotend generally, not a reduced figure. It does not extend to the A1 series or the H2-family machines; those are not on E3D's compatibility statement.
Why an A1 nozzle won't fit a P1P
The A1 uses a different mount entirely. Bambu's A1 hotend guide describes a tool-less design: you unlock a nozzle buckle by hand, and a built-in magnet attaches to screws already in the mount to help align the hotend against the heating assembly, with no tool needed and no separate connectors to unclip. The P1P's hotend, by contrast, is held by two screws and wired through three separate plugs, per Bambu's P1/X1 maintenance guide — a screwed, wired mount, not a tool-less one. The two designs mount differently, not just carry different labels, and that tracks the compatibility table: A1 Series parts are listed for the A1 mini, A1, and A2L, and the P1P is not on that list.
Complete Hotend Assembly vs. bare Hotend with Nozzle
Whichever printer you own, Bambu sells the replacement two ways. The bare "Hotend with Nozzle" is the hotend on its own, plus mounting screws, installed onto your printer's existing heater, thermistor, sock, and fan. The "Complete Hotend Assembly" bundles all of that together: hotend, fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock, and retaining clip, pre-assembled. Both formats stay series-specific. Bambu's compatibility table lists the X1C option as the "X1C Complete Hotend Assembly"; Bambu's maintenance guide names the same purchase option the "Complete Hotend Assembly - X1 Series" and confirms it also covers the older X1, but explicitly excludes the X1E. The P1 Series version is listed for the P1P and P1S. If your heater and thermistor are undamaged, the bare hotend buys fewer parts; if you are not sure, or the fan or sock is also due for replacement, the complete assembly avoids mismatching parts.
What to check before you order
- Confirm your exact model on the printer's own screen. "X1" and "X1C" are grouped together for the Complete Hotend Assembly, but Bambu explicitly excludes the X1E from that same listing. If you own an X1E, do not assume the X1C part is your part.
- If you print anything with carbon fiber, glass fiber, or other abrasive fill, order the hardened steel version, not stainless. Bambu's own store notes list PA-CF, PLA-CF, PETG-CF, glow-in-the-dark, and wood-filled filaments as needing it. Wear signs and which spec to reorder covers this in more depth.
- The silicone sock is a separate, also series-specific part. Bambu says the P2S/X2D sock does not work with the sock listed for other series, and the same series-lock pattern holds across the rest of the lineup. Check which sock is actually listed for your model rather than reusing one from another printer.
- After any swap, set the new nozzle's size and material on the printer's own touchscreen. As of Bambu Studio v02.01.01.52, the matching field in the software is display-only.
- If you are picking a diameter rather than just replacing a worn one, Nozzle Diameter and Layer Height: Your Usable Range covers what each size is actually for.
This page reports Bambu's stated model compatibility, not an engineering explanation. Bambu does not publish thread dimensions or physical tolerance figures for any of its hotends, so there is no manufacturer number to check by hand even where parts look alike. Where Bambu's table and store listings keep two parts separate, this page treats them as not interchangeable.
This page covers Bambu Lab's own lineup. If you are asking the same question about a different brand, such as a Prusa, the parts and the reasoning are different, see which nozzle fits your Prusa.

What this page does not tell you
- This page reports Bambu Lab's stated model compatibility only. Bambu does not publish nozzle thread dimensions or physical tolerance figures for any series, so no thread-level engineering explanation is offered beyond the documented mounting-mechanism differences (screws and separate wiring on X1/P1, a tool-less magnetic buckle attaching to screws already in the mount on A1).
- Bambu's listing for the X1 Series Complete Hotend Assembly names the X1 and X1C but explicitly excludes the X1E; X1E owners should confirm their own part on Bambu's site rather than assume the X1C listing applies.
- Coverage of printer-to-part compatibility comes from Bambu's Nozzle-Printer Compatibility table, which covers the X1C, P1, A1, H2, P2S, and X2D families; older or discontinued Bambu models outside that table are not addressed. The X1E is not a row on that table — the two X1E-specific facts on this page (its exclusion from the Complete Hotend Assembly - X1 Series, and its compatibility with the E3D hotend at a 300°C temperature limit) come from Bambu's separate maintenance guide and from E3D's own product page, not from the compatibility table itself.

- Bambu's own compatibility table lists the E3D High Flow ObXidian Hotend as compatible with the X1C, P1P, and P1S.
- Bambu states the A2L printer supports the quick-release nozzle from Bambu's entire printer lineup, but that performance improvements cannot be guaranteed, and recommends A-series nozzles for the A2L.
- Bambu nozzles are available in four diameters: 0.2 mm, 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm.
- Bambu nozzles are made of hardened steel or stainless steel; hardened steel is recommended for abrasive filaments such as PA-CF, PLA-CF, PETG-CF, glow-in-the-dark, and wood-filled; stainless steel is for general non-abrasive filaments such as PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, TPU, and PVA.
- Bambu's wiki defines the nozzle and the hotend as the same part ("Nozzle, also called the hotend").
- The P2S/X2D silicone sock is not compatible with the silicone sock for other series; separate socks are listed for the H2 series, the X1/P1 series, and the A1/A1 mini series, and for the A2L.
- Bambu's hotend is built as a single unit incorporating the heatsink, throat, heater block, and nozzle, so it installs cold without a separately threaded nozzle tip.
- Bambu sells two replacement formats: the bare Hotend with Nozzle, and the Complete Hotend Assembly, which bundles the hotend, hotend fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock, and retaining clip, pre-assembled.
- The Complete Hotend Assembly - X1 Series is compatible only with the X1 and X1C, and explicitly not with the X1E.
- The X1/P1 hotend is removed and installed with two screws into the heatsink, plus three separate connectors: a 2-pin ceramic heater plug, a 4-pin hotend fan plug, and a small 2-pin thermistor plug.
- As of Bambu Studio version v02.01.01.52, the nozzle-information field under Printer Parts is display-only; nozzle changes must be set on the printer's own touchscreen.
- The A1 series hotend uses a tool-less design: a hand-released nozzle buckle, and a built-in magnet that attaches to screws already in the mount to help align the hotend against the heating assembly — no tool is required to install or remove it.
- For the A1, Bambu offers hotends in 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm, plus a high-flow option.
- The A1's tool-less magnetic mount and the X1/P1's two-screw, multi-connector mount are physically different mounting systems, not just different labels on the same hardware.
- Bambu's US store lists the "Bambu Hotend - X1C" as its own separate product, with a 320°C maximum printing temperature and a 47.3 mm length.
- Because the X1C and P1 Series hotends share identical published specs (320°C, 47.3 mm) yet are sold as separate, series-labeled SKUs with no stated substitution, matching specs alone should not be read as proof the parts interchange.
- Bambu's US store lists the "Bambu Hotend - P1 Series" as its own separate product, with the same 320°C maximum printing temperature and 47.3 mm length as the X1C listing.
- Bambu's US store lists the "Bambu Hotend - A1/A2" product with an explicit Compatibility field reading "A1 Series," and the same 320°C maximum temperature and 47.3 mm length spec.
- E3D states its High Flow HotEnd is compatible with the X1, X1 Carbon, P1S, and P1P.
- E3D's High Flow ObXidian hotend for Bambu printers is offered in 0.40 mm and 0.60 mm nozzle diameters.
- E3D describes the hotend as a drop-in replacement that reuses the printer's existing temperature sensor and heater pads, with no mount adjustment and no PID re-tune needed.
- E3D states the X1E is compatible with this hotend, temperature limited to 300°C — the same figure E3D's own FAQ gives as the hotend's maximum printing temperature generally, not a reduced cap.
- The base E3D listing contains metal parts only; a fully assembled version with heater and thermistor included is sold separately.
